| Congratulations to all our winners and runners-up for all competitions at Shettleston Bowling Club.Well done to Michael Reilly Jnr who won his Junior District Lanarkshire section and reached the semi-finals at Houldsworth B .C. A special congratulations to Ian Beattie – the first ever Shettleston player to win the treble – very well done Unfortunately the Lanarkshire Division 3 Team was relegated to Division 4 and our Division 15 Team was narrowly beaten in the final game and, unfortunately, lost out on promotion to Division 14. Shettleston B.C. were runner’s up to Auchinairn B.C.in the Springburn League. North Eastern League Div 1 went down to the last game of the season to decide the winner with our team finishing 4th. Thanks to our greenkeepers and our contractor Strathclyde Sportsturf Management for keeping our greens in such a wonderful playing condition, especially after the horrendous weather we encountered during the season. With so many competitions/games held at Shettleston, many thanks’ to our umpires, Arthur Kerr, Jim Sokolov and David Cairns. To our Sponsors, Tennants, Cairns and Scott and our members Andy Cairns and Stuart Noble for their continue support for our Invitations games, many thanks. Ladies Section: President Mary Murphy, Secretary Eileen Beattie and the Ladies Committee – during what was again an extremely busy season we must thank the ladies for their consistently excellent catering services. To our Bar Staff – thank you for your service behind the bar during the season along with our Bar Convener – our thanks to all who helped out with bar duties during the season. Our Treasurer and his Assistant must be thanked for the tremendous job they carry out dealing with the finances at Shettleston Bowling Club. Our thanks’ to Neil McMonagle Jr and Arthur Kerr for their continued support and coaching of our Junior members at Shettleston Bowling Club. Also we would like to thank Arthur for his 14 years’ service on the committee; Arthur has unfortunately decided to step down this year. I would also like to thank Arthur Rooney for his service to the Social Committee over the years – Ian and Eileen Beattie, thanks to you both for taking over the Social Committee duties from Arthur. President Peter Brady and Vice President, George Boyes and the Committee of Shettleston Bowling Club should be appreciated for their time and effort during a very busy season. Congratulations to our Carpet Bowls Section who again contributed to our winter sessions and, especially to our Carpet Bowls Top Ten Singles Winner George Boyes with our Triples and Rinks being Runners-Up recently at Springboig Bowling Club. From myself, I would like to thank my Assistant Secretary, Bobby King for his support during my first year as Secretary. I would also like to thank Billy Murdoch and Bobby McMillan Snr and all the Committee and members at Shettleston Bowling Club for their support during 2012 season. Also, I’d like to thank all our members who volunteered for keeping the grounds around the greens in good condition for the start of the bowling season and I will be hoping your good work continues this year. Due to increasing costs and with the drop in members, not only at Shettleston B.C but all over, our Fund raising and Hall Hires and the continued support of our members and visitors are allowing us to carry out much needed works to the club, as you can see, with the Bar area now completed. We hope to continue with necessary refurbishments within the club. Gent’s Opening day is on Saturday 13th April 2013 at 2:00pm. Ladies Opening day is on Friday 19th April 2013 at 2:00pm. I would like to wish you all a successful season in 2013. J McLachlan, Secretary
